“After we get out of here,” Sang-woo further clarifies, unexpectedly leaning to share some air again. Anticipating mouths almost touching. “We'll talk more about this.”
Gi-hun gasps softly, totally weak at the sweet lie coating their shared breath as if it's a new reason to motivate himself. A beautiful lie to keep him expectant until the bitter end. After all, hope is the last thing to die.
Set in Squid Game Season 1: Before their friendship is fractured by the games, Gi-hun and Sang-woo share an unexpectedly intimate moment prompted by a disappointing breakfast. Unfortunately, it is not quite the conversation they desperately needed years ago.

“I'm not like you,” he finds his shaky words back, his lame lies to protect his laughable, non-existent dignity. Bitter denial that tries to sound convincing as he pushes the other man against the nearest wall with an abrupt thud, which occurs at the same time he pulls closer, much closer, not quite sure why he does it in the first place, but there's his punishing thumb looming on the stained skin out of impulse. Out of gratuitous cruelty, as a well-aimed squeeze triggers a sharp pang of pleasure to break his voice halfway, although not enough to destabilize. “I'm- I'm not.”
Or: During the Hide & Seek Game, Myung-gi discovers he's not too different from his game partner (aside from an evident blood kink). Nam-gyu indulges him before they go on a killing spree.
