“Y’know, people really aren’t that far off when they compare you to a cat. Or, a bunny. Feel like that’s closer, actually,” he said, sliding his hands under the hem of the hoodie to rest on his bare sides. “‘Specially when you do that with your nose. It’s cute.”
Oscar felt himself starting to blush immediately, rolling his eyes and tucking his head into the crook of Lando’s neck.
“You’re insane,” he murmured against his skin, trying to ignore how the comparison made his stomach flip slightly for some reason. Sure, his sisters had sent him plenty of memes about it, but it felt different when it was coming from Lando when he was on his lap like this.
“No, it’s true,” Lando retorted with a chuckle, pushing him back away so he couldn’t hide his face. Oscar made a frustrated noise of complaint, scrunching his face back up in annoyance and turning his head to the side while he crossed his arms over his chest.
“Oh, c’mon. You’re proper red, Osc, you like it or something?”

"I'm not." Lando quickly turned back away to the window, his heart beginning to race slightly in his chest.
"You are, though, princess."
The air nearly punched from Lando's lungs at that, a barely-there noise leaving his throat while he pulled his hood further down over his face. This was literal torture, and his only option of escape was jumping out of a moving car (that was definitely going considerably faster than the posted speed limit).
Before he had time to craft up some kind of response that could shut Oscar up in a last ditch attempt to save his remaining sanity, Lando nearly jumped out of his skin when he suddenly felt a hand moving to rest on his thigh.

Summary
Lando felt goosebumps prickle over his skin as he slowly began to run his hand up the smooth skin of his leg, his eyes glued to the contact and his lips parted slightly. The dreams that had woken him up so many times now, sweating and hard against his mattress or drivers’ room sofa, mirrored the exact position they were in almost to a T. It was a bit of a mindfuck, really.
But Oscar’s skin was warm and delicate against his own, painfully real, undeniably there.
“‘S pretty,” Oscar mumbled under his breath, seeming almost entranced by what Lando hadn’t thought twice about after he’d left the appointment.
Lando had been called a lot of things in his life. Pretty wasn’t usually one of them. Fit, hot, gorgeous, sure - but something about the way that word melted off Oscar’s tongue had his breath catching in his throat, the firm muscles of his thigh constricting under his fingertips.

“Fuckin’ hell, let me help you!” Oscar nearly snapped, exhaling sharply.
Lando finally peeked back over at him again, the one eye that was visible looking distinctly glassy. Not crying, but definitely in a… Different headspace than he’d been in a few minutes ago.
“Just- Jesus, okay, fine. Just promise you won’t freak out, or, like, quit McLaren or some shit. It’s not a big deal, like, you don’t have to say yes or anything,” he finally began explaining, immediately sending a pit of worry into Oscar’s stomach.
Why was he bringing up the team? What could possibly make him even start to consider quitting? Oscar's mind raced with every possible explanation of what he could be about to ask him, but he kept his face as neutral as possible in an effort to not freak him out more than he clearly already was.

Finally the whole debrief-media duties were over and Lando could finally stop fake smiling. Sure the situation was not as bad as it was in Hungary 2024, but it was still a shitty position to be in, and he knew it better than anybody, that's why his first thought was to check on Oscar. The whole weekend had been a rollercoaster of emotions and race pace, in some places they were good, really good, the fastest even and in some other places they were barely winning over the Alpines.

"I know that I would've been scared if it was me, I heard the radio Lando, I know how scary it is not knowing if you are on fire or not" Oscar tried to keep a calm voice, tried to keep his act together like his heart didn't break when he listened to the radio after the race. He waited for Lando's answer, saw his eyes glisten a little and how he bit his lower lip like he was trying to hold back.
Lando failed miserably at holding back, sitting up with way too much force and looking at Oscar "perfect face" Piastri in his perfect little brown eyes
"Well it wasn't you now was it? It was me. And I said I’m fine!" He was suddenly shouting, a tear threatening to run down his cheek but not coming out, he didn't know why crying was so hard for him, everything would be easier if he could just cry it out and be over it. But he didn't cry, he got angry, he got drunk, he overthinks and yells at the one person trying to comfort him.
Oscar looked like he was ready for it, smiling slightly at how Lando was finally letting out his feelings, he didn't mind being on the receiving end of all the yelling, he would've been mad at lando if it was the other way around.Bookmarked by BrennerAlex
