An old friend makes a reappearance at the worst time, Geoffrey McCullum, the man who was so determined to learn first-aid so he could help his colleagues in the 'neighbourhood watch team'. Reid had never killed a patient, not yet, but lately he'd found himself far more interested in putting his mouth on wounds instead of stitching them. His control felt frayed in a way it hadn't during the epidemic; was this just a natural progression of vampirism, or was he correct in assuming this was something different? The only way to know would be to ask Edgar, but just the thought already made his hackles rise. So instead, he remained slumped over the desk top, digging his hands into his eyes until he saw stars.
Or, something is not quite right with Jonathan Reid.
