Summary
With prophecies and legends about great evil taking the form of a Gerudo male, the Gerudo have hidden Ganondorf and kept him a secret to protect him and their people; he resents the imprisonment and strikes out on a rebellious adventure.
Right as Ganondorf steps foot out of the desert, Link hears the call of the Ancient Sword. News that the Hero has pulled the sword sparks fears that great evil is upon the Kingdom of Hyrule, made worse by the fact that neither the Hero nor the sword are anywhere to be found.
Zelda still a decade away from inheriting the throne, King Regent Bugil rules Hyrule until the day of her coronation. Of course, he is not satisfied with the state of things, hungering to take the throne permanently.
The roles they've always played hang over their heads. The thing Gods never understand about mortals is their capacity to change.
