Time looked down at his cup as hot coffee poured over the overflowing rim of the mug and burnt through his glove. He swore under his breath, shaking his hand and spraying brown liquid everywhere. "Listen, I just—"
The ship jolted with a creak. He stumbled, the movement sloshing coffee all over the front of his uniform. Warrior's voice buzzed over the intercom. It was too distorted to hear but the sudden red that tinted the light and alarms blaring through the overhead speakers told the oldest hero all he needed to know.
OR: In their new spaceship, the Chain are attacked by aerolfos.

Roy turned slowly, still keeping one hand clutching the receiver as the operator— who seemed less than aware of his dire situation —informed him that the call would be connected shortly.
“Hang up the phone, sir,” said a familiar, frustrated voice from behind him. “I knew you used this phone booth to talk to your dates, but it's getting a tad ridiculous.”
He recognized the voice after a moment as belonging to Second Lieutenant Maria Ross, and for a moment he was relieved— until he actually saw her.
“You're not Maria Ross,” he observed bluntly, and he didn't miss the shadow that passed over the imposter's face. “Maria Ross has a mole under her left eye. And she wouldn't be stupid enough to point a gun at me. Unfortunately for you, you are.”
Or the one where Maes Hughes does not die in a phone booth. Someone else does.

Epilepsy. His was caused through genetics but it isn’t always. The doctor talked with Granny and they spoke of pills from the bigger cities that their small family could not afford. He only had seizures, they wouldn’t kill him. Probably.
