It was a normal mission. Dismantling fighting rings was routine for M'staeng at this point. What was not normal was getting himself captured on one of those missions, but that was fine. H'kye killing him when she inevitably rescued him scared him more than anything the Homn'cli could do to him. It wouldn't be too bad.
Of course, he didn't expect for the Homn'cli to have captured a fucking human, much less make them his cellmate. Sharing a cage with a species considered death incarnate wasn't how M'staeng saw his imprisonment going.

Without any regard to the plans, very exciting plans may he add, Mustang was given a spontaneous and unnecessary (in his opinion), diplomatic mission to Creta with only one-day notice. He was to take a 2-hour train ride and then go on an extremely long and exhausting trek across the desert with only a small blond and large armored friend to accompany him.

After a rather harsh argument with his older brother, Alphonse storms off and disappears for a week, only to return to an empty dorm, a lonesome red cloak, and an emotionally scribbled note.
Drachma and Amestris are on the brink of full-out warfare, with Drachma assaulting the North and North West borders of Amestris with alarming frequency. Both regular soldiers and State Alchemists are fighting for their lives on the frontlines.
Miraculously, full genocide is narrowly avoided and the two countries had come to delicately maintained impasse. Only, a vindictive Drachman recruit has a bone to pick with Amestris, and pulling the trigger of his rifle has sent the two countries toppling from their precarious impasse and over the edge.
