Summary
Tommy knows everyone has a breaking point. He’s seen Wilbur stretched thin from the stress of leading the team, Niki nervous to the point of tremors, and Zak turned despondent from unfulfilled personal expectations. Tommy’s also been told he’s needlessly harsh on himself, which results in periods of such severe insecurity it gets to his playing. So he knows, perhaps more than anyone, that everyone has a breaking point.
He just hasn’t seen Alex’s. And that scares him. Through all their ups and downs, through Piisces’s worst year of 2023, through all the backlash Alex got from not delivering on performances after Merci was nerfed into the ground, he’s never seen Alex break. Alex’s Alex no matter what happens - always smiling, always pleasant, always the same humble boy.
It’s a puzzle. Alex’s a puzzle. And Tommy is determined, for Alex’s own sake more than anyone else’s, to put the pieces together.

Summary
Chase was like an iceberg. A lot of people saw the tip of it: the handsome face, the composed doctor. But Chase was a huge iceberg. There was a lot below the water. What people didn’t know was the broken family, the severe neglect, the parentification, the trauma. How much Chase had gone through to become the person he was today. Growing up with a neglectful father and an alcoholic mother sounded like a nightmare to Cameron. And it probably had been, for Chase, because he never talked about it, as if he wanted to pretend it never happened. It was a strange denial that sometimes had Cameron worried, because Chase would keep following that narrative, stubborn as ever, until he crashed. He didn’t crash often, but when he did, he crashed hard.
