If it wasn’t happening to Lovro, he probably would have been able to see the humour in his father loving Ivan. All he ever seemed to hear were questions about Ivan’s favourite sports or comments about fixing up his second-hand Tomos, each one laced with the quiet hope that some of Ivan’s more “masculine” traits might rub off on him. “Yeah, well, you look like shit,” Ivan shoots back before collapsing back into the chair. “I’m serious, what the hell were you doing? And don’t lie to me, I already spoke to the doctors.”
“Why do you care?” Lovro says. “And what are you even doing here?” Now that the initial shock horror has worn off, all Lovro can feel - aside from intense, uncomfortable pain all over his body - is pure confusion.
Ivan looks at him, then, gaze heavy and significant. “Turns out I’m still your emergency contact.”
