Summary
Throughout her life, Maria was many things. A scion of a noble line considered controversial at best, before she buried that heritage deep. One of the few Hunters trained directly by the First, and one of even fewer to truly master the Art of Quickening. And, in her final days, the caretaker of a research hall best left forgotten.
None of those who come to Yharnam leave it the same—if, of course, they leave that terrible city at all. Maria's fall from grace was further than most. Yet she changed Yharnam, even as it changed her. Perhaps that means something, to someone, even if it cannot any longer mean much to her.
She knew the first vicar, before he became the first cleric beast. She knew the Holy Blade, before he lost his blade and his self and his sanity. She knew the First Hunter, before grief drove him to make a choice he'd have eternity to regret.
Did a single one of them ever truly know her?
