“Is that so? I suppose I am,” Stede says, and now he is blushing a pleased shade of pink.
“I’ve heard all kinds of blokes say they’ll never forget the nights they had with you,” the man says. “Which is pretty fucking fascinating as most guys get around. Someone in every port, y’know? Which means,” the man says, fixing his eyes on Stede’s face, “you’ve gotta be something special.”
“Well,” Stede says modestly, “I’ve gotten rather good at making tea.”-----

Summary
Ed has been in love with Stede since the moment they met. However, since the moment they met was Ed offering Stede a tattoo apprenticeship under the famous artist Blackbeard, he hasn't been able to do anything about it. But while he can't pursue anything romantic with Stede, Ed can be his friend, and what an incredible friendship they have. Best friends, and Ed's never had one of those before. Not one who really sees him, anyway. It's why he still can't tell Stede he's in love with him, even when he leaves to open his own tattoo studio, because what if he ruins everything? The last thing Ed wants is to lose his best friend.
But dinner, an unexpected fight and a getting caught in the rain creates a perfect storm, and Ed learns that hidden feelings have a way of making themselves known.
