It took eight days after the incident of the phone call for Dean to realize he had been fooling himself. Hope was such a double edged blade. Like an overripe peach covered in sweetness but if you bit into it the taste was sour and bitter.
It slid down his throat, coating it in shame as Dean just kept moving through life.
Four hundred and two days.
Maybe Dean could go home? Go back, knock on their apartment door and ask to come back inside. Would Cas even want him anymore? Christ, he had followed Dean for four years by his estimate before they ever even met. And then they had been friends for a year before they dated.
Nine years.

Summary
Dean is serving time in one of the most notorious prisons in the country, Purgatory. He spent the first year in there not taking any crap from nobody till one day the warden, Chuck, warns him that if he steps out of line again he'll throw him in the Empty and forget he exists. Dean has to be good. That's difficult when he has Gordon out for blood and Alastair out for his ass.
And to top it all off Dean's new cellmate is a member of the Russian mafia. He isn't too sure how long he's going to survive with those cold blues. Cas is dangerous and yet Dean finds himself unable to look away.
