Summary
Dr. Ryland Grace is the only living human in the Tau Ceti system. His crewmates are dead, his friends and family impossibly distant. His only companions are the ship's AI and robot. His own possessions feel unfamiliar. So does his own body.
Until the Hail Mary reaches a stable orbit around Tau Ceti, there's little that Grace can do to start the mission. In the meantime, he tries to get his bearings amidst the amnesia, the isolation, even the extra gravity. He starts eating solid food again, thus regaining his strength. And he starts remembering the people he knew on Earth- thus regaining his courage.

“So get married,” Sirius says calmly, his scent giving absolutely nothing away as he turns towards him and stretches his arm out along the top of the sofa, arching a brow when Remus just gapes at him.
“To fucking who?” he asks, giving him a baffled look as he throws his hands up in the air. “Am I supposed to track down the man who knocked me up, whose name and appearance I don’t know, and ask if he wants a husband? Take out an advertisement in the Prophet, perhaps?”
