Summary
After a year of distance, Will and Mike are alone together again—and despite the snowstorm, the space between them turns out to be the hardest thing to survive.
“Never have I ever… been kissed.”
Clearly, he didn't drink. The only person he’d ever even thought about kissing was sitting two feet away from him—and painfully, obviously unavailable.
“You really haven’t?” Mike asked quietly. “Ever?”
“No,” Will said quietly.
Mike studied him, like he was trying to understand something he hadn’t realized was missing before. “Not even once?”
“No,” Will said again. “Not even close.”
“I just… I don’t know. I guess I thought—” Mike muttered, scooting a little closer, slow enough that Will could’ve pretended not to notice. Their shoulders brushed. This time, neither of them laughed it off.
Mike swallowed. “I just think it’s kind of unfair.”
“Unfair?” Will echoed.
“Yeah,” Mike said. “Like… you should get to know what it’s like. At least once.”

Summary
"So after being with her for years, you couldn't even tell her you loved her when she needed it the most?" Will spat back at him.
"I kept looking at her and seeing you. God you look so much alike, whenever I was with her, I kept thinking about you."
"No, don't put this on me. It's not my fault you couldn't tell Jane you loved her," Will replied. "Not even when she was killing herself to save us."
Or
Will wished it had been him instead of Jane.
So does Mike, but in an entirely different way.Bookmarked by destroyingthecastle

Summary
“And why come back when so many are leaving Hawkins?”
Will slowed without meaning to. The leaves under his shoes crackled. “I–”
What should he tell this stranger that wouldn’t reveal the fact that his sister had superpowers and might actually be the only key to save this entire town from a monstrous maniac?
“Well, everyone I know is here,” he murmured. “I couldn’t… just leave them.”
The man hummed softly, then he lifted his head to scan over the woods, a faint whistle came from his lips, before his gaze landed onto Will again.
“Maybe something here wanted you back.”

He seeks an escape in the neon haze of the Blue Room, where he willingly surrenders to the bruises and the blurred touch of strangers, desperate to wash Mike's shadow out of his skin. But his reckless behavior leaves scars, and when Mike finally discovers the dangerous edge he has pushed Will into, the thin veil of their platonic promises will shatter for good.
