When Wylan was a boy, he used to hide in the dirty corners of the cellar, talking to the spiders. The delicate intricacy of their webs comforted him while his father screamed his insults down the stairs. He sometimes used to wish he was a spider. Spinning delicate pieces of deadly art to catch their prey. Wylan knew he was a fly caught in a spider’s web, even when he was a boy. Wylan wanted his lab in the cellar. It always felt safe to him. He liked the dusty corners filled with spiders. Wylan needed the safety of the spiders and the dust today.

“You want me to do what?” Wylan was really hoping he somehow misheard Kaz’s request.
“Sing at the Emerald Palace and then go home with Doughty, drug him, then let Inej in to gather info. It’s not a hard job.” Kaz said looking at the others who were nodding in varying degrees of agreement.
“What if he actually tries to sleep with me and I can’t drug him? I’m not opening my legs so you can get info Kaz.” Wylan crossed his arms chin jutting out in defiance.
“I’ll send Jesper too then. He can watch at the bar to make sure his drink gets drugged and that way when you’re back at his apartment by the time he could even do anything he’ll be knocked out.” Kaz folded his hands seemingly having an answer for everything.Look out it's Wylan the honeypot expert. (can you tell he has no idea what he's doing?)

There's foul play, alright, but not the kind he expected. He also didn't expect to meet his five closest friends in the process of trying to take Dr. Rollins down. Yet, here they are, crammed into a restaurant booth like normal college students, celebrating over waffles after uncovering one of the biggest political scandals that America has ever seen (unlike normal college students).
