Definitely because he’s too ashamed of the scars that litter the back of his hands and his palms with pathetic stories behind each one of them.)
mu qing flew too close to the sun and burned, his budding f-f-friendship with feng xin in shambles after several centuries of pettily ignoring each other over a stupid misunderstanding. but it's fine. mu qing moved on! he's reluctantly close friends with nan feng (at best) in his fu yao form. but when nan feng calls him the same pet name as feng xin once did, he doesn't know if he's falling in love with nan feng or merely replacing feng xin with him in his heart.

Lance is happy for the new coalition—of course he is, it saves his people and his kingdom from further heartache and pain against the Galra Empire and all of the embers of its death still remaining—and he’s proud of his father for what he’s accomplished in uniting the struggling planets and sectors against their common enemy, but he hasn’t been able to tame his still-simmering bitterness at his being barred from the negotiation table.
“I know I’m getting married, Hunk.” He lets slip. Hunk’s shuffling stops, and that’s enough of a tell.

Prince Lance has always known his role to the kingdom will involve lengthy political negotiations unless a genuine tragedy should put him first in line, but it's hard to stomach an impending arranged marriage in any scenario. Especially in the scenario where Lance actually ends up engaged to the Marmoran Prince he'd spent the night admiring, and neither are made aware of it quite in time.

“What? No! I’m--I’m not your subconscious, I’m your--” Keith starts, but he slams his lips together in a tight lock, then looks at the waves, while Lance sits up taller and leans in closer to him.
“My what?”
“Just--!” Keith starts, getting frustrated and pinching the bridge of his nose. “I’m real, okay? We’re not--this isn’t--we’re having a shared dream.”
Lance never thought he had a soulmate, but when he finds himself dreaming about a boy on Varadero Beach and in a southwestern desert, he learns they have an incredibly rare soul link–-one that allows them to form an unusually strong bond before they meet, but also exposes their greatest vulnerabilities to each other.
