It was stupid—really stupid.
And the thing was, Charlie knew better. He was the Chief of Police, for god’s sake, of course he knew better. But he’d still gone and done it anyway.
Sure he could try and justify his actions, in fact, he could come up with a whole host of excuses to explain away the events of the night and his subsequent injuries. Some of which he’d have to get sounding believable before Bill and Harry heard about his little stunt and came to lay down the law. Ironic, considering that that was what he was supposed to be doing.
Or Charlie Swan gets injured whilst on the job and is sent to the hospital. Gaining the attention of a certain vampiric doctor in the process.
