Summary
There's a celebration waiting for Light, but instead of going there, he finds himself at a place he never thought he would return to. There's a bottle in his hands, but he doesn't drink. Well, there's always a first time for everything. He should probably celebrate he won, after all.

Summary
“I don’t like that tone, Ryuk. I’m perfectly capable of--why are we even having this conversation?”
“You’re watching her sleep,” Ryuk pointed out.
“L watched me sleep. You watch me sleep.”
“Exactly.”
Abruptly, before Light could figure out whatever the hell that meant, Misa flopped over onto her back and whimpered out, “Just do it. You can do it.”
Light looked back only to find that Ryuk had phased back through the wall and disappeared. Just typical. Misa was writhing in the sheets like she expected to escape some invisible hold, crying unintelligibly and still very much asleep.
“I’ve done enough, you can kill me!” she cried.
...
Light catches Misa in the midst of a nightmare. He doesn't want to stay, but he can't exactly leave.

Summary
She knows that he knows that she knows that he doesn’t love her, but it’s been 5 years, she’s had 5 years, she’s had—a childhood’s worth of home-baked bread and pocketed loose change and her parents’ love still clotted in all her loving, loving bones. The killer is gone and one day she’ll make peace with the killed bodies, but no, the killer is Light and the killed body could be her. If she’s made up of loving bones, what happens if she’s giving away the love?
or, a really bad lesson on loving people

“To love is to burn, to be on fire.”
I love the unique format to show a timeskip happened while connecting her feelings all the way through. Misa-centrics are always amazing, but this one has to be my favorite so far.
She 'is' love itself and the amount of parent-daughter mentions accounts for it very, very well! -

Summary
Two things happen in the next minute.
The towel that L is using to dry off Light’s foot is dropped to the ground next to him. There is a loss of sensation there, no fingers gripping his feet in any tender fashion. Light lets out a sigh, glad that it’s all over. It had been a deeply awkward situation, no matter how skilled L may be in foot massages. Light will never be doing this again. He doesn’t need to do it again, in account for this fact: just as L had said, they will be parting ways soon.
L pulling him into a kiss is the next thing that happens.
L kisses Light goodbye. Written for Lawlight Week 2025. Day 3: Final Goodbye.

Bookmarker's Notes
I lack proper words so, please, do excuse me for whatever I may say. In all seriousness, I don’t know where to start. You feel the anxiety in the start, even though you know what happens. You feel recognition, because you know what happens. You feel dread, because you know what happens. “You, too, know what will happen. What is the point of revisiting it?“
“Redundant” is usually not a word used exactly as a compliment, but I mean it as one. The same feelings and thoughts are reinforced so much it expresses the feeling of being haunted perfectly. At the same time, there’s the opposite of that. You can see how some affirmatives change gradually and, at some point, they’re just flipped around; opposites, truth uncovered seamlessly. Both being present doesn’t make the storytelling contradictory, simply real, and it tugs on your heart
This is a Bookmark with Recommendation so I will avoid to actually explicitly mention how the read went. If anyone (somehow) see’s this or if future-me happens to find it and had forgotten how it went. Or maybe I didn’t and I just want to re-read my old take; doesn’t matter a lot.
Immense kudos to you, author! I did see you have other works in store, so will be checking them out about now. A Good Day, Afternoon or Night to you! 🤍
