Summary
In the five years since Kira's victory over the SPK and the Task Force, Sayu Yagami has been locked away in a comfortable apartment for her own safety, unaware of the events in the outside world. She is suddenly forced to flee when she comes across Near, who gives her a special Hacking Gun that can fight against the robots and orders her to run.
Hopeless and alone, Sayu finds herself saved by serial killer Beyond Birthday, who is searching for the original L to save the world and agrees to team up with Sayu to find Light and escape the city.
As Sayu and Beyond go on their journey, fighting against Kira's followers, they learn the original task force is alive but have been brainwashed by Kira. Confronting their own fears, Sayu decides to stay in the city, find her brother, and save the task force from Kira's influence. But who's the mysterious child assisting them?

Summary

Cornered in the Yellowbox Warehouse, Light manages to escape by revealing himself as the 16th Remnant of Despair and calling for help from two of his own, without a notebook but causing losses to the stunned members of the task force and the SPK.
Now, the de facto successor to Junko Enoshima and leader of both the Remnants of Despair and the misguided Warriors of Hope, it's Light's turn to play, and he is no longer playing nice. Under Light's guidance, the Remnants are rapidly gaining ground and causing catastrophe to tear down the world and build it anew.
As the newest members of the Future Foundation, Aizawa, Matsuda, and Near, work with the killing game survivors to gather up the Remnants. Watari died at the hands of Rem. But to the surprise of Light, L lived. In a desperate attempt to salvage this, Light has Ryuk give Rem's Death Note to someone, and once again gives up his memories, returning to the teenager worried for his friend's wellbeing.
Grieving for the man he considered a father, L fights his own quickening depression while determined to solve the Kira case, suspecting this new Kira is only a decoy in Light's bigger plan. But now he knows he is immune to the Death Note, there is no need to be careful anymore. All he can hope is that maybe Light will prove him wrong and turn out to not be the cruel mastermind behind this mess.

Summary
L had had a very interesting surprise when he discovered the result of an intimate moment after allowing himself to be vulnerable around someone he had fallen for. After being betrayed by B, L swore he would raise their daughter and never love again.
But with the Kira case requiring him in Japan face to face, he finds himself beginning to fall for his prime suspect and really wishing he didn't have a thing for potential serial killers. He also needs to hide his young child from the task force to keep her safe since he doesn't trust anyone except for Watari to take care of her or know she exists.
He quickly realizes keeping an extremely intelligent and curious toddler hidden from a task force and his prime suspect will prove easier said than done, especially when he needs to stay close to Light and fight those blossoming feelings he vowed to never feel again, which only grow more painful when his ex is suddenly thrown back into his life.
