Vi’s chuckle fades as she keeps eye contact with her sister, her hands not moving from her waist… her hands… are moving… her sister… closer.
The eye contact is too much for them so they each close their eyes, but their hands guide them. Vi pulls her closer, Jinx pulls her down.
Their lips touch, deliberately. They hold it for two heartbeats then let go.
“Umm, goodnight Jinx.” Vi doesn't open her eyes until she's turned down the hallway. She enters her room, closes the door behind her without turning, then slides her back against the door until she is sitting on the floor.
What the fuck just happened.

“Did you want it, too?”
She swears she can see yes forming on Vi’s lips, wishes more than anything that it’s on the tip of her tongue, and her need for that to be true feels all-consuming. Jinx keeps going, figures she’s going to make sure this burned bridge can never be repaired.
“There’s no right or wrong, just ways to go about being able to look at yourself in the mirror without hating who looks back. Would you hate yourself if you did this? Or do you hate yourself for having to push this part of yourself down?”
Vi stiffens, like a feral animal that’s deciding between fight or flight, tries to shut down, straining as she tries to keep her emotions at bay.
“I grew up, Vi. I’m not a child anymore. I make the decisions I want to make, and I don’t need to be protected from them. I’m back. I can be back. For good. For you. Tell me you don’t think about this, too.”
Jinx is back after a year and a half away post war, and she wants to make amends for the damage she's done. Intentions and healing and the chance to truly resolve missteps all shift; rerouting to what was carved out and set in stone, all this time.
