Summary
An alternative universe, set in a world inspired by Ancient Rome, following Aventurine’s life as a slave, after he is gifted to the Emperor’s son, Veritas Ratio. His masters hope that the rare offering will secure favor in the imperial court, but for Aventurine, who was once known as Kakavasha, it is merely another shift in the chains that have bound him for years.
The story unfolds in two timelines: the present, where Aventurine navigates his new life in the palace, and the past, revealing the horrible path that led him there.
He is the last of his people, the final remnant of a civilization hunted to extinction by the same people he is now serving. Kakavasha is the last to bear eyes like his, marking him as a relic, a prize, a possession to own.
But even a slave can still remember what it means to survive.

Summary
Veritas heard the news that Aventurine had been recovered upon his lengthy disappearance. He had been given very little information besides the clearance to access his hospital room. The sight of the gambler causes the doctor to do something that may have been the smartest and stupidest thing he’d ever done in his life. The weeks that follow see Veritas Ratio take on the task of nursing Aventurine back to health while keeping the controlling grip of the IPC at bay.

Summary
Aventurine is damn good at what he does: he expertly mixes drinks and charms his patrons with a only a few words and a radiant smile. It's a shame, though, that these skills won't save him from having to work at "Diamond Shackles" and running into a ridiculously captivating hitman.
This is an AU of mine, in which Aventurine works as a bartender at a place with... a few skeletons in its closet. There's quite a bit of blood, quite a bit of soul-searching, quite a bit of romance and smut and a mish-mash of other stuff in a grim criminal setting.
