Summary
Just as he is about to be hanged for witchcraft by the township of Gotham, the centuries-old apothecary known as Edward casts a curse on the family of his accuser, dooming the future generations to blight and misery borne of love. Freed from his earthly prison more than three centuries later, Edward sets his sights on the family's most recent descendant: mayoral candidate Oswald Cobblepot.

Summary
“Your name is E. Nygma? That is-” his eyebrows scrunched, as if his thoughts and judgement had just changed from what he had been originally planning on saying, the smallest quirk making the corners of his lips twitch. “That is actually quite funny. My name is Cobblepot. Oswald Chesterfield Cobblepot.” -- an alternative universe pre-dating the events of the show as we know it, taking place before there was the Iceberg Lounge and Riddle Factory, before there was Penguin and Nygma, before there was even Oswald and Ed; it is a story of two young men trying to find themselves, and each other, in the grim and unforgiving grandness of Gotham City.

Summary
The people of the Narrow's roar and shout at the existence of The Penguin, booing at the sorry excuse of a replica standing in the centre of the arena. When Edward appears on stage as himself, wearing a garish sparkling green suit, slandering Oswald's name, they cheer with him. It's a temporary remedy, but a remedy nonetheless. And Edward drinks it up until he's drunk on it, basking in its laughter and words of scorn towards Oswald that do their best to cover up the pain. It feels good, but the effect will wear off later.
