Hyacinth realizes belatedly that his eyes have drifted up to Crow's face and his lips are tugging into a soft smile at the way Crow's tongue just barely pokes between his lips as he fiddles with a particularly temperamental bit of the lure. Dark brows knit together in quiet annoyance when green flames sputter from between his fingers, ruining yet another portion of his gloves. Hyacinth stifles a chuckle, the expression almost identical to the one Amanda makes when her pet projects aren't cooperating. The comparison is jarring and a gentle warmth settles in his chest, uncomfortably close to affection.
The moment is . . . humanizing, for lack of a better word. The hunter smiles sadly and crosses his arms over his chest, hand leaving its comfortable position above the grip of the Ace for the first time since landing on the Shore. For better or worse, he decides with gentle sigh, this Lightbearer is a different man.
