    Denki was leaning forward now, a hand on his chin in the shape of a tick. “Oh, man,” he finally said, with such a lovely, golden undertone to his voice. It was like the sugar crust atop a crème brûlée. Had he always sounded like that: so sweet, so rich? “Did I hallucinate the two of you being completely different people?”

    Then, all intrigue dissipated and, as if it was a natural instinct done time and time again, one of his new earjacks jabbed Denki in the eye.

    Denki liked to think that whatever area of expertise he lacked, he made up for in others. In fact, he liked to think he had a track record for such compensation. Sure, his test scores were scant but so long as he didn’t have scarily competent fighters in his company, like Bakugou and Kirishima, he was actually a pretty good fighter!

    And, might he add, that there was no Bakugou or Kirishima during his internship with The Lurkers, so the opportunities for Denki to prove his worth were plentiful.

    The point was, though, that Denki had a track record—a really, really good one—of not getting hit with rogue quirks. There were quirks like Kirishima’s and Bakugou’s and even Todoroki’s that, sure, yes, he’d been caught with in the past, but nothing extreme where he had to wait out the consequences like clucking like a chicken or getting a raging, twenty-four-hour boner.

    Until now.

    Or, Denki gets hit with a quirk that gets him completely hammered whenever his heart rate increases.

    This shouldn't be a problem so long as he takes it easy. Rather, it wouldn't be, if it wasn't for his big fat fucking crush on his boyfriend.

    Christmas in Japan is a time for couples. Kaminari wants to make sure Shinsou knows it.

    Chapter 4:

    Denki stared down at the present in his hands in doubt, scrutinising every aspect of it, from its size to the frills on the end of the tape from the teeth of his tape dispenser. There were creases in the laminate. Some corners of certain folds overlapped and protruded in sharp, unsightly little points. He couldn’t find a box that would fix everything, either, so he’d taken a delivery box from the cardboard waste in the kitchen, undone it, and wrapped it inside and out with the grey and silver wrapping paper that Ashido had lent him before doing it all up again.

    It could have been better; if the recipient was anyone else, then it wouldn’t have been so terrible. He’d have perhaps been proud of the effort he’d put in, or the gift would have been easier to think of. But it wasn’t.

    It was Hitoshi. Shinsou. His boyfriend.

    The boyfriend who was definitely, absolutely, certainly going to pull him to the side after the gift-giving montage and tell him he wanted to explore other options.
