Akira didn’t actually think Akechi would be the type to really start something in a theater with many other people present, but as he led him to the very edge of the very top row, he turned to him with an amused look.
“What?” Akechi asked innocently.
“Oh, nothing,” he shrugged as he sat down, deciding to humor him. “It’s just that if I didn’t know you, I’d get the impression you were planning to do something indecent with me.”
Akechi rolled his eyes as he took his seat next to him. "Shut up. I just want to see this movie."

There was always something there. Something behind the pretenses and disagreements, beneath the obvious opposing beliefs, and Akira knew. He was aware, because despite popular belief, he was no fool. No, he was actually pretty clever. And just as a smart person would, he tried his best to ignore it simply because it was not supposed to happen. He didn’t expect it to happen, ever – let alone like this.

In the end, it doesn’t matter. None of it fucking matters. Because what’s really in control is the tension. This elusive string tied between their chests that’s always changing length. Right now it’s so short and taught and strong that Will can’t imagine resisting it. So really, it was never a matter of if he would. Just when. When will he fold? When will he let go and let himself follow Mike into the water?
He dares to glance down at his knees, where he can see Mike’s fingers peeking out from behind his calves (as if he needed that visual reminder that they’re touching), and then back up to meet Mike’s expectant gaze.
He’s going to do it. He’s such a fucking idiot.

Mike & Will have a long overdue conversation on the way back to Hawkins— by, in, and around a random motel pool.

Robin leaned closer, voice gentle. “All I’m saying is, it’s okay to like him. And it’s also extremely, painfully obvious.”
Will froze. “…to who?”
Robin’s grin stretched slow and wicked. “Only to me. Because I understand. He doesn’t know, don’t worry. Because that boy? Dense. Like, heroically dense. Historically dense. Scientists are going to study him.”
Will huffed, cheeks burning. Will’s eyes darted involuntarily to the centre of the room. Max and El were squished together on an armchair. Mike was sprawled on the carpet with Dustin and Lucas, waving his arms around dramatically as he argued about which Star Wars film was objectively the best. His hair was a mess. His cheeks were flushed. He was smiling.
And Will felt that stupid expanding warmth in his chest that he couldn’t get rid of no matter how hard he tried.

Post-Vecna, Will and Robin continue to bond. Robin knows Will likes Mike. Mike thinks Will likes Robin.
One jealousy spiral, several misunderstandings, and a lot of pining later… they finally kiss.
