Summary
Slowly, Naim pulled back the sleeve of his shirt to reveal the burn scars he had amassed over these months. Ryan moved his hand closer and closer, telegraphing his actions carefully as he watched for any sudden movements on Naim's part.
Ryan raised the lighter against Naim's skin, pressing the open flame against his forearm.
Or: Connected scenes from the six months after they make it out, featuring fruit tea, heart-to-hearts, and figuring out where to go next.

Summary
Somehow the blonde boy had completely hypnotised him. That was how Naim felt about it, for lack of a better word.
Otherwise he would not be so worked up over the fact it had been nearly two months and he still had not so much as grazed a hand beneath Ryan's waistband.
How absurd was that?
Or, Naim gets to the bottom of why Ryan never lets him get him off.

Bookmarker's Notes
“Naim had found his faith and community here, too. Just not at the Church, as his mother did. His was blonde ringlets and gentle hands, and it was the most Naim had ever believed in anything his whole life.”

Summary
“Fuck off, cunt!” Naim yelled, thrusting the flame closer toward Ryan. “I know it’s not you. I—I know he wouldn’t be here.”
“It’s me,” Ryan said, his voice now edging on desperation. “Fuck, it’s me, Naim. Please—just please tell me it’s you.”
“Prove it,” Naim growled, hating the way his heart hoped.
Or,
After the confrontation with the pastor’s daughter and his encounter with the entity, Naim goes to the Church instead of the grocery store. Against all odds, Ryan’s there too.

Summary
Every time he would tell Ryan something in that stern voice, Ryan would shrink and give him the most wounded look in his eyes. At first, it made Naim feel bad. But eventually he figured out that Ryan would do it on purpose. He would push and push and do things he knew would get him in trouble. It was like a game, almost.
That was when the thread had started to unravel for Naim. Every kink in the chain was formed by some joke, some misunderstanding that went too far and had Ryan cowering at his feet with that hazy look in his eye.
Almost like a dog.
