In a world where 99.9% of people have a red string and a fated special other, Xiao Zhan is an odd one out, with no string at all.
He's been navigating his life just fine, completely resigned to being fated to be alone, but something is still missing, and he still wishes for the opposite. Soon after the feeling begins amplifying, a new neighbor moves in next door - and although Xiao Zhan is instantly pulled towards him, and with inexplicable force, his new neighbor does possess a red string of his own, even if he didn't yet meet his match.Is it worth to try and defy fate? Can it even be done? Or is Xiao Zhan just making things worse for himself by wishing for someone he can't keep in the end?

/per aspera ad astra/ - Latin phrase, translated as 'through hardships to the stars'. Meaning: every path towards your goal and happiness comes with some roadblocks, but it will be worth it.
Xiao Zhan and Wang Yibo, throughout (and after) the filming of CQL, inevitably falling into each other without being able to stop it - and finding their own path to the stars, with the goal of keeping it after the summer ends.

The only issue? Xiao Zhan doesn't have a the slightest interest in motorsports, and the racer in question keeps turning down everyone asking for interviews... at least until the two of them meet.

Wang Yibo is famously bad with horror movies, especially the haunted kind. So, when it turns out that his own new apartment might be haunted by an actual real-life ghost, very much outside of a horror movie, he is ready to assume that the universe is playing a cruel joke on him.
Except, this ghost is very different from the ones depicted in such media. Very ironically, that ends up making it all the more cruel, somehow, especially as the question arises: can you fall in love with someone who isn't really there?

When Wang Yibo transfers to his school a grade below him, his popularity is swift to rival his own - though he is excelling in the sports department instead.
Once Xiao Zhan is tasked with helping new boy Yibo to keep up with his studies, he finds it harder and harder to keep himself from gravitating to him.

Yibo has to press his lips together tightly to not let the words sitting on his tongue slip through.
He can. He can give some of his energy to Xiao Zhan.
He can do it so easily that he thinks about it all the time and sometimes his teeth ache with the need, his hands itch, his nails find their way to his mouth and get bitten short. He can never seem to get rid of that habit.
What if Yibo secretly has a golden core?
