Summary
Ilya’s hand wraps around his bare wrist and squeezes. Shane barely stops himself from collapsing to his knees.
The pressure lights up every receptor of his touch-starved nervous system, wrenching a small, pained noise from the back of his throat. Every muted sensation comes flooding back so intensely that it almost hurts. He needs Ilya to hold him down until there’s nothing inside him but quiet. He wants to sink into him and disappear.
It takes Shane an entire beat to remember where they are. Fighting against the fog in his mind, he manages to drag his gaze up to meet Ilya’s.

Summary
In criminal law, a Novus Actus Interveniens is a Latin term that roughly translates to 'a new intervening act.'
It is the legal equivalent of shoving a brick in between a sequence of collapsing dominoes. For a person to be found guilty, their initial action must be the substantial and operating force that pushes the final tile over. But if a completely unpredictable, extraordinary event that could only be explained by God interrupts the sequence, the causation shatters. The remaining dominoes are untampered. The momentum is severed; fate is changed. The person walks free; the defendant is acquitted.
Minseok is no judge, but meeting Minhyeong had to have been a Novus Actus Interveniens.
