He had run away from the dark lord, barely evaded Azkaban and spent the last four months living in a house that was being monitored 24/7 by the ministry. They knew every move they made, if Draco decided to put an extra sugar in his coffee one morning, the Ministry knew about it.
So, when Narcissa Malfoy came into his room one day holding a letter from Minerva McGonagall requesting his return to Hogwarts in September, he was shocked to say the least.

after a couple stray hulk outs and the occasional plate thrown at his head, thor had fine tuned his ability to read bruce almost perfectly. he could see the way his lip quivered just slightly when he was sad, the tiny squint of his eyes when he was happy and the way he tucked his thumbs into his fist and squeezed when he was scared.

Everything happens for the first time again. Your first time seeing the sun rise because you can't remember if you ever got up early enough to see one before the maze. Your first time picking a flower because flowers might not have even grown in your old town. Your first time getting a crush because you couldn't even remember your friends from your previous life, never mind someone you had a crush on.
And God does Thomas hope he never had to experience the pain of a crush in his previous life.

Newt had been acting different. Thomas could see it, Frypan could see it, even Brenda and Jorge could see it, and they had barely known him a year.
He was usually the rational one, the one who could keep a cool head and slap Thomas when he was in need of a reality check. He has always been a leader, people may follow Thomas but without Newt he would have gotten himself and everyone else killed way before now.
But recently, this hasn't been Newt. Now his hands shake, and he whimpers in his sleep, waking up in the night and having panic attacks. Everyone notices the way he flinches and goes stiff at the sound of loud noises. He is barely eating as well. Well, they're all barely eating, but Newt can't seem to finish a meal without excusing himself outside and watching the distance, like he was looking for something.
This time, though, Thomas wanted to follow him.
