Summary
For Keith, A matter of years feels like two different realities.
After a deadly battle puts Lance in a coma and in a slow recovery on Earth without his memories, Keith distances himself from his fiancé in the effort to protect him from the traumas of the war he is now free from, but leaves Lance unknowing of the history they share.
Lance works to re-discover who he is while the full story of how he and Keith came into love after the events of Naxella develops on the side.
He can’t help but feel like he is drawn to Keith by forces unseen, and when the two realities collide, he’ll finally get to discover why.

When Lance, the free spirited, independent, and charming Prince of Altea becomes the first Paladin of the Blue Lion, attacks on his life from the Galra become incredibly frequent.
The situation only grows worse and after too many close calls, his sister Allura, the newly crowned Queen of Altea, and Coran, their royal advisor, are pushed to desperate measures when they accept help from the Blade of Marmora to protect him.
With Lances freedom sapped, and a grumpy Galran guard tasked to be breathing down his back at all times, Lance isn’t sure that death by assassination could be all that much worse.In being forced to always be at each others sides, however, Lance unexpectedly begins to discover that there’s more to his guards dismissive personality than he lets on. 400 years. That’s how long it’s been since Akira had arrived.
It was supposed to be a short trip. Their window was small to return, so though his fascination with this beautiful, strange planet would have willed him to stay and explore further, he’d had no choice but to leave on time, lest he end up stranded.
Or so was the plan. Everything changed when he’d met him.
He was named Leandro. A young boy with long limbs and tan skin whose eyes were as blue as the oceans and who's smile was warmer and brighter than the sun.
The land Leandro called home was ruled by a king who was on his deathbed. Leandro was his heir, and the younger sibling of his very jealous half brother.
The two met on the fateful night Leandro was plotted to be killed, and their encounter turns Akira’s life on its head when he chooses to risk everything to try and protect him.

400 years later, Akira, now legally known as Keith, will be able to return home. But amidst his preparations to finally leave Earth behind, a familiar face reappears. Yet again he becomes tethered by fate to a boy with ocean blue eyes, and yet again, he may not have the strength to leave him behind.

“Nothing,” Keith grunts. His arms are crossed so tightly that it looks painful.
“Are you sick?” Lance asks. “‘Cause no offense, but you look terrible.”
He watches as Keith’s nostrils flare, and his eyes fall shut for a few moments. He even takes a deep breath, like he’s praying for patience.
Or: Keith accidentally injests an alien aphrodasiac in the middle of a banquet. Apparently, there's only one cure.

They didn’t talk about the disease. It terrorized Takashi, the thought of losing his freedom. It terrorized Adam, too, because Takashi’s spirit would die long before his body did. He couldn’t bear the thought of this happy, gentle man slowly losing his good cheer. It seemed hardly possible, yet Adam had seen glimmers of it. During the bad days, when switching meds, after a particularly hard training session in the sims, there were signs of the unhappiness that was to come. Takashi would be withdrawn, subdued, the usual smile gracing his face turned down at the corners. Adam hated that, hated how helpless it made him feel, hated how he knew someday Takashi would withdraw too far into himself for him to reach.

No one ever told you how hard it was to be sexy during a Washington winter, especially not Fifty Shades of Grey, which Lance often felt like the star of. And, all right, in all fairness, Keith wasn’t Christian Grey levels of wealthy, and he didn’t have any secret sex rooms, and Lance was not with him because he’d signed his ass over to a repressed BDSM god.
Don’t get Lance wrong. Keith was definitely a repressed rich boy. It was just that he was Mr. Grey’s inverse: the type of repressed rich boy you had to beg to spank you and even then there was no telling if he’d have to leave the room afterwards because he felt so torn up with guilt at having to hurt you. Which he didn’t. Or, well, he did, but Lance liked it. Enough to ask for it, anyway.
And was that honestly so crazy?
