His movements become more erratic, though not uncontrolled, and Khaslana easily matches his pace. He stays silent save for the occasional grunt, but Mydei’s jabs become more frequent, more self-indulgent.
“That’s it, Deliverer, you always listen so well,” he taunts, voice dripping with fervor, “just like that. Do it to me just like that.”

Summary
It’s become too much to handle.
He allows it to overtake him, lets his eyes go half-lidded; unseeing yet seeing everything all at once. The air blowing past his ears drowns out all other sound, the very space around him biting into his skin.
Foolishly, he puts all his trust in Phainon’s hands. How he once trusted Hephaestion with every facet of his being, he now extends that same privilege to Phainon. It’s not a matter of hoping that Phainon will wordlessly pick up on what Mydei wishes he could say, it’s having complete faith in knowing that he will.

Silence is a thing to be treasured when you call the eccentric city of New Eridu your home. Up high, on one of the top floors of their apartment building, Hugo and Vivian spend most nights together in a peaceful kind of quiet - a rare break from their otherwise hectic day-to-day life. They’d try some new brand of tea Vivian found in a quaint, little shop located in a forgotten corner of Janus Quarter or the two of them would peruse the Inter-Knot for new art pieces to decorate their home with.
Tonight’s atmosphere, however, is nearly as oppressive as the bustling streets below, the words left unsaid between them loud enough to make his already sensitive ears buzz.

It's so cold and tight and hellishly suffocating, Mydei's so close to breaking he could cry. He's an alpha, born to dominate others, and yet he' s chosen to let his dear Phainon lock away his desire and use him however he wants.
Unfortunately, he didn't account for his rut, and how much more painful this arrangement becomes when he's swollen and drunk on his own hormones.

"After a while, the pup associates obedience with positive outcomes, which leads to a repetition in wanted behavior," Mydei continues. "The click must only be pressed after compliance, not a moment before."
Phainon blinks as she watches Mydei say, hand. The puppy reaches her paw out, placing it on Mydei's palm. Click. A treat, a murmur of praise. Good, good, good.
"Sit up," Mydei demands. Phainon doesn't even recognize what she's doing until seconds later; tomato-faced at the dawning realization that she'd straightened her own spine, slightly, at Mydei's words. A flutter in her chest when that click sounds, and Mydei coos, "Good puppy."
And, well, Phainon is ridiculously, profoundly, severely fucked.
Phainon has been dropping by the pet shelter Mydei volunteers at often, and seems to have discovered something new about herself along the way.

“I think we should take a break.”

The sentence barely registers in Mydei’s mind as he stares at the shadow of the man who was once Phainon, who sits completely still in a chair, dull eyes staring sightlessly ahead.
“Damage to mind function detected… Possibly irreversible…”
The Antikytheran-like man continues reading through the digitized logs impartially, as if merely reciting a speech. But every single word he says drives another stake into Mydei’s heart.
Mydeimos the Undying scarcely bowed his head, rarely lowered himself onto his knees, and never, ever begged. And yet he finds himself doing all three things now, before the broken shell of his beloved.

Irontomb’s birth is prevented, and Amphoreus is saved. But it’s at great cost to Phainon, whose psyche finally crumbled under the devastating damage to his mind, body, and heart.

For a moment, all Mydei does is stare. He wants to see Phainon drop that veneer of professionalism. He wants to see what Phainon's real laugh looks like. He wants to see Phainon, truly see him without all the shine and glamour obscuring his vision.
Slowly, deliberately, so that his intentions can't possibly be misread, Mydei says, "If you have nowhere else to be, you could come over to my place."
Or, Phainon is the Flame-Chase's top-rated host, five consecutive years and counting, and Mydei can't seem to keep his eyes off him.
