Summary
He slides off of the arm of the chair and onto where Duke gestured, trying not to land too heavy. As he does it he watches Robby’s expression change – concern melting away as he raises his eyebrows and runs a hand through his beard. He looks impressed. Dennis made the right move.
Duke sounds delighted, “There we go. Taking it like a man, aren’t you? Not so shy around a bit of attention.”
Dennis feels himself flush at this, it escapes no one’s notice and a moment of quiet falls in the garage. Some old rock tune in the background plays on. There’s a sense of anticipation; they want to know what Dennis will say.
“I can take it,” he repeats.
“Good man.”

Dennis has always struggled to fit in as one of the guys, so when Robby invites him out for a boys’ night, Dennis is anxious to prove that he belongs.
He certainly couldn’t have hoped for this – becoming the main attraction for a night he’s never going to forget. -

As he comes forward, wetting his tongue and then dragging it slowly across the salt on Park’s hand, Dennis’s eyes flicker up and meet the ones of his latest source of fascination. In Park's gaze he sees something he hasn’t seen since he agreed, in wide-eyed nods and monosyllabic answers, to let Park use him tonight: approval. Undisguised and uncomplicated.

Summary
Connor cocks his head a little as he explains, “‘Hurt’ isn’t the right word. ‘Damaged’ is more accurate. But my self-repair protocol will take care of it and within 72 hours it’ll be as if nothing happened.”
Hank looks at him with his brow creased in concern, “You seriously didn’t feel it at all?”
Connor takes his hand back from where Hank examines it, “I felt something, but not pain. Not like you conceive of it.”
-
Hank Anderson's life is a never-ending race trying to escape pain. On the other hand, Connor can't feel any pain at all. In many ways, it makes their life together easy but, at the same time, deeply private. When a trip to Vermont in the fall of 2039 lays their differences bare, both Hank and Connor are given a chance to change things, to let each other into their own shifting worlds of hurt and of happiness. But no one promised them that it'd be easy.

“And what about you? Are you in safe hands?”
Robby runs a hand through his beard. He thinks about Whitaker clinging on behind him on the bike. He’d hold on so tight that it was like he was trying to pull Robby into his chest rather than himself into Robby’s back.
“I don’t know about that either.”
-
Sick with their own separate miseries, Robby and Whitaker take a trip out to Nebraska together on Robby's motorcycle. They don't expect to find what they need in each other. And yet...

Yeah, Dennis admits to himself, he’s down pretty bad.
He’s certain that the fishing trips his brothers took with their dad didn’t have this additional complication – that of the man taking them being so hot they’d want to cry. Trinity’s comment, ‘daddy wants to take you to the woodshed,’ bounces around in Dennis’s head.

Summary
Dennis turned to look at him, “Is that how you know? Because you - you-”
Robby met his gaze and laughed, warm, his brown doe eyes shining like mischief and dread. “I eat it real good, sweetheart. You should know by the way I kiss you.”
Dennis blinked, momentarily caught off guard. His mind snapped back to the core of his thoughts: desperate and needy. His breathing stuttered, uneven, and he knew his scent was pouring out, carnal and fiery, because Robby’s nostrils flared in response. Dennis thought, how the hell did we even get here? Ah, right. Wetting the beard. Never have I ever. Top ten reasons why he wanted to ride his alpha’s face into next Saturday. Right.
