In the beginning, there lied nothing.
Clusters of stars scattered, the drops of colorful paint upon the inky black canvas of infinity. Burning themselves out until they could no longer cling to their own existence, continuing the interminable cycle of life, death, and rebirth.
The oceans of blackness in between every galaxy yawned, like a sleeping newborn stretching its limbs for the first time, yet there were no stars to illuminate the masses... leaving it as it had always been... vacant spaces of pure nihility.
Pure oblivion.
Well... there is supposed to be nothing.
But within one of those distant seas, the void and stars gave birth to another.

Deep in suburban grime stands your gloomy apartment complex, unceremoniously slotted in a dodgy neighbourhood. It's a temporary living arrangement while you attend college, picking up small part-time jobs to keep yourself afloat. The area is mundane, and perhaps the weather is a bit miserable at times, but you don't seem to mind.
𝐘et, you can't seem to shake the unsettling feeling that trails behind you, one that is only heightened when a bizarre string of murders occurs throughout your usually quiet area, seemingly all having a specific connection to your apartment building. Neteyam held his breath, clutching onto his ikran absentmindedly. His gaze should be forward, watching where he’s going like his parents had taught him, but he couldn’t avert his eyes from her. He just can’t.
She was brighter than any stars in the sky.
