Perhaps this had been a mistake. Perhaps he should sneak back and pretend he never saw anything. With a bit of luck, he and the newcomer would stay out of each other’s hair.
Except it didn’t feel like a mistake. It felt almost fun to be intrigued by someone, to want to busy himself with someone else’s life and peculiarities for once.
From afar, at least.
But it turned out that fate either had a personal vendetta against him or wanted to lend him a helping hand.
