Summary
There's a billboard. That's in itself is pretty normal, billboards are a normal part of LA; advertisers like having somewhere big and visible, and what better place than a billboard? It should be fine. This billboard should not be bothering Eddie at all, except—
Except. There's a giant fucking rainbow.
It's like—and Eddie isn't even exaggerating here—the whole billboard is essentially taken up by a massive, striped rainbow. Each brightly colored strip must be at least two feet high and seven wide, if not bigger. It's—it's obscene, quite frankly. Unnecessary. Also incredibly hard to miss, Eddie can't believe he didn't notice it before.
Boy, is he noticing it now. Fuck. He's—he's doing the thing again. The thing where his face flushes and his palms sweat and his heart beats entirely too fast to the point that he feels on the verge of a panic attack, and there's nothing to even be afraid of.
Just a big, stupid fucking rainbow.
Or,
Eddie is haunted by the rainbow. -

Summary
"Eddie. Eddie, wait," Buck calls after his retreating form. He watches as Eddie's shoulders stiffen, the muscles of his back tightening before he turns around once more, jaw and fists clenched.
"I'm not going to tell you again—"
"What year is it?" Buck asks, swallowing harshly against the taste of his own panic. It's just a precaution. Most likely, there's a perfectly normal and logical explanation for this.
The question makes Eddie pause, expression shifting to one of bewilderment. "What?"
Buck exhales harshly, breaths ragged and forceful. "Last time I—uh, you didn't have a moustache the last time I saw you."
The silence is fucking loud. So is Eddie's face, because it's doing a weird hop-skip-jump between about seven conflicting emotions, screwing up and relaxing and squinting again.
He chuckles nervously. "What do you mean? Buck, I had a moustache yesterday. It hasn't grown in overnight, you've seen it before—"
"No, I haven't."
Or,
After the lightning strike, Buck finds himself cycling though a select portion of possible lives he might have lived. Coincidentally, they all seem to have one thing in common... -

Summary
Eddie climbs onto the bed. They sit side by side, legs extended, two letter L’s protruding off the page. Instead of pressing play like Eddie is expecting, Buck laughs.
“What?” Eddie asks, an instinctive smile caressing his lips.
Buck grips his jaw, thumb brushing over his teeth before he bites at the broad nail, stifling. “Just—did you ever see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory?”
Eddie nods. “Gene Wilder.”
“That’s the one,” Buck chuckles around his thumb, then lets it slide free. “You know the grandparents?”
Then Eddie’s laughing too. “Jesus,” he says on an exhale.
“I’m just saying,” says Buck, still giggling. “I’ve seen our future, and it’s bright.”
Or: God created the world in seven days. It only takes Eddie six to surreptitiously move into Buck’s house.

Summary
Emma types I’ll owe you into the message field, glancing over at Henry to shoot him another smile before she looks down.
Autocorrect had turned her message from I’ll owe you to I love you. She stares at it bemusedly, her heart racing for reasons that make no sense. It’s just a typo. Of course she loves Regina, but they aren’t the type to talk about those kinds of feelings. Not when it comes to each other. She’ll have to blame autocorrect, and she pauses and starts to type–
The message comes from Regina, just as Emma begins to type again. I love you, too. Enjoy your night with Henry.

Summary
“Well, we’re doing a fancy dinner and mini golf and karaoke,” Buck says, “and those are kinda date activities anyway, right?”
“Right,” Eddie says slowly. “Except it’s Chim’s bachelor party, so we can hardly bring dates along, even if we could find them. That’d be weird.”
“Well,” Buck says, “I was thinking… what if we were each other’s dates?”
Eddie’s brain bluescreens for a moment.
Buck must take his total lack of reaction for disagreement, because he hurriedly says, “Like, a pretend date. That way we could test out our, like you said, moves on each other. And then be totally truthful about whether they worked or not. So we get honest feedback and we don’t have to worry about finding someone to try them out on and we can still make it to Chim’s party. And then give Chris some advice before Sunday. Right? Does that make sense?”
or, chris wants dating advice and it turns out taking your best friend on a pretend date to practice being as romantic as possible is not a good idea in theory or in practice, considering the pesky being-in-unrequited-love of it all

Summary
Mi media naranja. Half an orange, right? Like—two sides of the same coin, or something. A complementary coupla guys. A little silly, maybe, referring to a grown adult as a piece of fruit, but the sentiment is sweet enough.
“Hey,” Buck asks the girl beside him. “Um, Alba. She called Rosie ‘mi media naranja’. Like—half an orange? Is that a common saying in Mexico?”
“Oh, sure,” she nods. “It’s a pretty normal term of endearment. Cheesy as hell, but, well.” She gestures at where Eddie and the two women are sitting. Alba’s holding Rosie’s hand now. “When you’ve known each other that long and fit together that well… it’s just sweet.”
My most best friend. That’s what Alba said. That’s—well, that’s who Eddie is to him, essentially. And if what Eddie’s missing is a little affection in a language that feels like home, well. Buck can give that to him.
or, buck notices the lack of spanish terms of endearment in eddie’s life since his abuela died. so, he’s armed with what he’s been reliably informed is a totally normal thing to call your buddy. Operation Make My Best Friend Feel Cherished, as he’s named it on a trial basis in the privacy of his own head, is a-go

Summary
"You're lucky you like your hair short, Chris. It's way easier."
Chris cocks his head, eyeing Eddie in that way that suggests he doesn't understand why Eddie is the way she is. "I don't get it," he says finally.
“Get what?”
Chris shrugs. “Why you can't just cut it. Or—or shave it all off or whatever.”
