Summary
After Eleven dies, Mike Wheeler starts needing Will Byers in a way that has teeth.
Same bed every night. Mike counting Will’s breaths, Will’s shivers, every place his mouth has been allowed and every place he has forbidden himself to touch. Will keeps asking what they are. Mike keeps not answering.
A fight in Will’s studio goes too far. When he wakes, the world has gone quiet.
Years later, Will is learning how to live without waiting for Mike Wheeler to choose him. Mike is learning, badly and late, that loving Will with everything in him was never the same as loving him the way Will needed.

Summary
“Shit, shit,” Will scrambles to the floor-length mirror he’d found propped up on a dumpster at the end of his Freshman year. He pulled at his sweater and fluffed his hair. “Coming!”
He trips over his feet rushing to get to the door, before freezing to glance at the tiny apartment. His sketchbooks are everywhere, his bed is unmade, and he hasn’t scooped Bowie’s litter box today. There isn’t time to do anything about it now.
Taking a calming breath in, he yanks open the door.
There, in his doorway with a giant goofy grin, stands Michael Wheeler.

Will is settling in Chicago, finishing up school, and dating. Mike is a college dropout on his 10th manuscript rejection with nothing to look forward to but Will's visits home. When Will cancels at the last minute, Mike impulsively shows up at his door. They adjust to old comforts and new discomforts, struggling to agree on what they are to each other.

Summary
Point was, Mike Wheeler liked to be needed.
And Will Byers?
Well…
Will swallows, eyes focused pointedly on Mike’s long, slender fingers. The way they twist and they pull, fixing the broken strap to Will’s backpack.
Will Byers loved when Mike fixed things for him.
It was becoming a problem.
He didn’t mean to start doing it, but it just… happened. Maybe he was using Mike’s kindness against him, but it was difficult not to, and Will couldn’t feel too badly about it when Mike looked down at him with lidded eyes, one hand dragging up along Will’s side, voice sweet. “Better?”
“Yeah,” Will murmurs, grabbing the bag with trembling fingers. “Yeah, it’s better.”
Or, Will comes up with a plan that could benefit the both of them. Mike gets to be a hero in every day life, and Will? He gets to have Mike's attention.
