It’s ironic that the first time Ilya had wanted someone to stay, to spend the night, to finally be allowed to exist in his space as a line instead of a blip, was the first time Ilya was the one who was cast aside. He had always been the one to leave or the one to kick someone out in the morning. Now, however, that streak was as broken as something could be, and maybe other things were cracking, too, but Ilya didn’t want to touch that thought lest it crack more. One more disturbance to a hairline fracture would easily crush it.
