Summary
After getting expelled for “creative differences” with a smoke machine, Rodrick Heffley is shipped to the suburbs to live with his artsy cousin Janis Ian and finish out his senior year at North Shore High. His band is on life support, his report card looks like a horror movie, and the only way he’s allowed to play Battle of the Bands is if he drags his grades out of the crypt.
Enter Regina George—former queen bee, and currently running a rebrand from “terrifying” to “tolerable.” She needs a public image refresh and a boyfriend who screams “I have layers.” While he needs tutoring, a parole officer for his homework, and someone who can bully him into passing senior year.
A deal is struck: fake dating for optics; makeover (for his report card) in exchange for another makeover (but this time for her soul… allegedly if she does have one that is).

In other words, the CRT you take off Kris's hands after they knocked on your door one morning asking if you wanted it ends up courting you in the most horror-esque ways possible: channel changes to communicate with you, staticky name whispering when he craves your attention, and shadowy manifestations unbound after an altruistic fluffy goat boy nearly convinced him that “all” Darkners grow “obsolete” eventually. (Hah, what a loon!)
But wait, there's more! (The Lord of Screens is, of course, a man who stops at nothing to get what he wants.)
NOTHING will prevent him from showing his Dark World form in the Light World.
Not even Death himself. (He can SUCK it!)

It certainly didn't help that he noticed your distaste for the event. While others were all dolled up in satin and pearls, you were usually dressed in something that would allow for more comfort, your usual attire for work. You hardly mingled with others and tended to shy away in the corners with a drink in hand. If you were just going to mope about, maybe he thought it'd be better to keep you busy. His ego couldn't handle the possibility that you didn't like something he worked so hard on, and yet even that wasn't entirely the case. It was perhaps Mr. Tenna in general that you just didn't like.
You decide to actually have a go at getting purdy for a NYE party and Tenna definetly notices.
