“I am not culinary inept. I can bake and cook and all that.”
“The only thing you ever cooked is fried egg.”

"Is there a way for me to leave?" She asks.
His breath catches in his throat, because in truth, the answer is yes. The island is his prison and his alone- anyone else, immortal or mortal, can leave as they please provided they survive the journey. It would be a rough few days on the open ocean before Mona would find any land, but the trip is a feasible one with his help.
The afternoon is starting to bleed into evening, and the world is bathed in golden light. Mona's hair glistens like it's shot through with copper and her face looks radiant in the dying day and he- he is so very, very lonely. He wants her company, wants her to stay for even just a moment longer. He cannot keep her forever, but-
"No," he says.
He's been trapped on the island, alone, for as long as he can remember. Then Mona, a mortal girl, washes ashore, and he finds himself wanting to steal just one more moment of her company. Problems arise when he falls in love.
