Shane escaped the Valley once, but tragedy dragged him back. Now, he wants nothing more than to stay distant and unclaimed. But when Sarah and him grow close, he feels something pulling him into certainty he hasn’t committed to yet.
Old folklore says the valley binds people — Shane never believed any of that, until now.

Very short chapters, meant to be a short and sweet read. :)
Shane is struggling with stress induced anxiety after the extreme life changes he has faced since the death of Jas’s parents. He hasn’t felt normal, let alone comfortable in a while.
The farmer, Claire, is dealing with major imposter syndrome and feeling lost since quitting her life in Zuzu City and moving to the farm. The weight of everyone’s expectations is haunting her and she needs someone to share it with and help her find her way.
These two find comfort in one another in more than one way. Shane struggles to be careful with that fragile relationship while Claire wants nothing more than to get lost in it.
*in this story, Shane is not as bad as he is made out to be, he’s just going through it and teetering on the edge of alcohol addiction. In fact he’s super hot, just troubled. So what, maybe I like a troubled hottie here and there !

The farmer, Peyton, may or may not have been getting to know Shane for some months now in a somewhat unconventional way.
What started with hateful banter turned into drunk flirting, which turned into vey intoxicated (yet honestly pretty passionate) sex. Sometimes in the saloon bathroom, most times late at night in her farmhouse, and always while drinking.Lately, their time together has been slowly becoming less and less strictly sex and their conversations have turned deeper and deeper.
Peyton isn’t sure if Shane is also confused about what they “are” or where they are headed, but she also doesn’t know a whole lot about the demons that he carries with him, which may be the reason they’ve only gotten so close.
This is a small excerpt of a larger fic. This scene takes place on Black Friday, the day after thanksgiving, when the farmer uses bringing pie to her neighbors as an excuse to see Shane
