Summary
As far as anyone knows, Anya is an average six-year-old who lives with her Mama and Papa in a nice apartment in West Berlint. She likes anime, coloring, and playing with her dog, and leads a pleasant life of a carefree child. The adults remember a world of gunfire and bombs and boys who died in the mud to fight the petty squabbles of men, but Anya is like the rest of today's youth: bright-eyed and innocent, naïve and oblivious to struggles beyond her math homework.
But Anya knows far more than she lets on, especially to her parents. Anya knows everything.
And it's only a matter of time before the truth comes out, one way or another.

Summary
Muriel no longer tried to shoo off customers from the bookshop. With Mr. Aziraphale up in Heaven, he had no need for them, and on one of Mr. Crowley’s rare visits since the whole Archangel affair, he’d gruffly told them that they could do whatever they wished with the place.
“Just don’t get rid of it, lass,” he’d said, patting their shoulder twice before he left in his fancy car.

Summary
Stede, over the course of a few years, had gotten himself a large group of more or less long-term or permanent foster placements. That was how he explained it on the third date, anyway. He waited until the seventh to clarify that that did, in fact, translate to nine children. Stede had learned not to drop bombshells like that during meals; people were wont to choke on their chicken parmesan.
(Ed was fine after a few gulps of water, though.)

Summary
Max tried not to be too hard on her mom about the drinking. Times were tough after Starcourt, and even tougher after Vecna, so she knew her mom needed an outlet for that stress. She knew her friends worried about it, but it was fine, really. She was fine. And so long as things didn't go too far, then no good would come of letting anyone see how things really were at home.
But one night, things go too far. Her mom goes too far. The bottle flies through the air and shatters over her head, and suddenly Max is crouched in the corner with the phone clutched in her hands, frantically dialing the number she'd memorized a long time ago.

Summary
Hawkins is a strange town, and Eddie Munson is its Taker.
He doesn't want to be. He chooses not to be, even if everyone in town thinks he must be. Even if he was chosen three years ago, even if the old gods and spirits and rules which govern the town tell him he must be. They aren't pleased when the Taker refuses to Take. But there's things about Hawkins that even Eddie doesn't know about: gates to other dimensions, children with superpowers, monsters with faces that open like roses— and somehow it comes back to Steve fucking Harrington, of all people, and the gaggle of children following him like ducklings.
They think he's nothing but the Taker. He thinks they're insane. But then Chrissy Cunningham dies in his living room, and Eddie realizes he'll need their help clearing his name. They might need his help to save the world, too.

Summary
Max just sat on the cold, wet grass and stared straight ahead, like Billy might burst out from behind the headstone and reveal everything, all of this, was just a horrible prank on his little shit-bird step-monster— until something hit her in the back of the head.
She nearly jumped out of her skin, but before she even had time to leap to her feet, a familiar voice was calling out.
“That’s what you get for not telling me your birthday!” Erica hollered, trudging up the hill.

Summary
Will had suffered through the bi-weekly critiques in Painting 101 this whole semester. They were brutal from the start, but he kept himself going off the moderate compliments he got from some of his nicer classmates. Now he wondered if they’d just pitied him from the start. Some dumb kid from the ass-crack of Indiana decides to come make it big in art school in New York City? Everyone had heard that story before.
Will had just hoped he would be the outlier who really managed to achieve it. Now he felt like an idiot for even considering it in the first place.
But the TA in his British Literature class might turn out to be his saving grace.

Summary
Steve didn't know how to tell the kids. He knew they’d spotted the nail polish he wore now, but that couldn’t seem so earth-shattering; Eddie had been doing it for years. And if Steve started paying a little extra attention to his hair every morning— well, that wasn’t exactly breaking news, was it? And those pretty skirts and dresses Nancy and Robin had gone out to thrift for him, he only wore those at home.
In the end, though, they were smart kids. Maybe it was inevitable that one would realize. And, in the end, he wasn’t all that surprised when it was Max who figured it out.

Summary
Steve and Eddie fell in love in 1986 during the end of the world, and fell in love all over again when the world began anew and both were still standing.
The years blazed forward, and the fear was still there, would probably always be there, but nothing came of it: no more gates split open, no more monsters appeared in the Byers' living room, and the commies seemed to have other concerns.
Instead, Steve and Eddie slowly found a new normal— as normal as Hawkins could ever be, anyway.

Summary
They decided to move out of the Harrington house in the autumn— Stevie, Eddie, and Max, that was.
Three or four (un)natural disasters and incidents threatening national security in one town kept rent low. No one beyond the county line was jumping at the opportunity to move to Freakville, U.S.A., as one Edward Munson once spray painted on the city limits sign. And so Stevie called one of her dad’s realtor buddies to start getting the paperwork together.
But first, she has to call her parents.

Summary
Okay, so maybe Eddie didn’t think through all his ideas quite as much as he should’ve. Sue him. But in his defense, he wasn't exactly expecting Steve Harrington of all people to slam him into the wall and chew him out for a harmless prank on Eddie's newest Hellfire recruits.

Summary
Seventh grade had been hellish for Joey. Suddenly his big brother was off at Purdue, and math had letters in it, and all the girls started acting so weird— even his friends! But now eighth grade had come along, and things were finally looking up.
His brother followed through on his promise to visit every couple of weeks, he'd gotten a little better at math, and Rachel, Sarah, and Emily stayed close with him and the guys (even if they were still kind of weird).
And, of course, a new grade meant new teachers— specifically, Mr. Harrington and Ms. Buckley.

Summary
Steve huffed a laugh, incredulous.
“I guess we’re really doing this,” he said, lifting his hand to his forehead like he was dizzy.
“Only if you’re really, totally, extra positive about it,” Robin said, biting her lip. “You really don’t have to do this if you don’t want to."
He cracked a smile and leaned over to ruffle her hair fondly.
“Don’t be dumb. This is gonna be fun."

Summary
His walkie-talkie was right where he left it, in the charging dock by his bed. He practically ripped the dock itself out of the outlet by how hard he grabbed the walkie, but he didn’t pay attention to it, nor to the stack of books he knocked off the nightstand in his panic.
“Headcount,” Dustin gasped into the radio. "Headcount, now.”
