Summary
The Magnolia house was never supposed to be a student rental.
Buck had bought it with Tommy when he was twenty-eight, fuelled by the kind of naive certainty that only comes with a first serious relationship. Tommy was older, established, and had a way of making “forever” sound like a simple logistical plan.
Then, after more than a decade together, the plan collapsed. Suddenly, Tommy decided he wasn't ready for a wedding and the subsequent children, that he wasn’t built for the domestic life they’d spent over a decade constructing. He left, and Buck was suddenly fourty-something-year-old and sitting alone in a five-bedroom house that felt like a tomb.

“There,” Buck breathed, his voice a little raspy as he finally stepped back, plastering that tight, ‘supportive best friend’ smile back onto his face. “Perfect. Go get 'em, tiger.”

Summary
It wasn't supposed to be Bradley. Bradley deserved so much more than he got in life. Dead dad, dead mom, fucked up relationship with Maverick and Jake and seemingly everyone he ever cared about. And he was so good. So sickeningly good.
Jake was never good. Jake was a rabid lion trapped in a dog crate, snapping and snarling at anyone that got close. Living up to everyone's worst expectations because then no one expected anything more.
He tried being more. With Bradley, he really did. But it didn't matter. Because Jacob Seresin was never and would never be meant for more.
