So when a lawyer slides a contract across a very expensive table offering her six figures to become Ben Solo's fake girlfriend for a year, she does what any reasonable, financially desperate person would do.

Ben Solo — yes, that Ben Solo, the one from the Calvin Klein campaign that broke the internet, the one who graced five Vogue covers like it was mildly inconvenient — is rich, particular, and exactly as difficult as advertised. He has a penthouse, a rotating cast of lawyers, and seventeen houseplants he refuses to name. He does not want a girlfriend. He wants a strategic asset in a good dress who won't ask questions.

After a French notary contacts Rey to inform her she's inherited a house in the Drôme (France), she decides from one day to the next to quit her job and move there.
The house is pretty secluded, there's no service, no internet, no way to reach other people aside from the landline in the living-room.
Ideal conditions, by her standards, as those theoretically should allow her to be perfectly alone.
