Frank keeps his tone as even as possible, even if he feels his brows furrow down. “Are you cheating on me?”
Ray stops in his tracks, his keys clattering against Frank’s in the bowl they keep on their dresser. “... What?” He manages to laugh.
Frank sneers, grabbing the Mary Janes from behind him and throwing them underhanded towards Ray. They tumble over, one landing on Ray’s boot and forcing him to step back. “Whose are these?!”

A misunderstanding leads to an admission, which helps Frank learn something about Ray—and himself.

“Hey,” Frank says, before Ray can fully turn away. “You’re supposed to make sure I get home safe.”
“I don’t know you that well dude, dude,” Ray says. “I think you can make it from here.”
Except they’d been texting a ton since that morning last week, about bands they liked and hated and rock shows they were planning to skip classes for. Frank feels like he knows Ray so well, even though they don’t travel in the same circles and even though this is only the second time they’d really seen each other. Or maybe Frank is seeing Ray much more fondly than he should for other reasons.
