Regulus was still not sure if running away was the right decision when he had lived with his brother and Potter for two weeks, but he was sure that everything he wore itched and every meal tasted slightly foriegn. Frankly, his whole existence itched, and the way his brother seemed to keep secrets from him did not help. It did also not suit him that his repressed sexuality seemed to surface during this exact time, because James Potter slept in the next room over.

Summary
It’s May 1979 and the Order has just apprehended a pair of mysterious wizards who look remarkably like a Potter and a Malfoy. Naturally, James Potter and Sirius Black are called in to identify the strangely familiar strangers and determine their backgrounds and loyalties.
(This would be a lot easier if their captives weren’t convinced everyone they talk to is dead. It would also be easier if they didn’t spend half their bloody time bickering.)

Being a cute, black cat he gets into every common room - scratching everyone who tries to touch him, except for a certain James Potter. “Will do,” he tries to smile at Lyall, but he thinks it ends up as more of a grimace.
“Don’t look so glum, lad,” Lyall says, tipping Sirius’s chin up with a bent index finger. “Remus is stronger than he looks, he’ll be alright.”
“I know,” Sirius replies eventually, and this time manages a genuine smile. “I just worry, ‘s all.”
Lyall sighs. “I’m glad he has you, Sirius.”

“Nah,” Sirius says. He’s still thinking about Remus’ hands. Without much forethought, he reaches over and plucks the book out of Moony’s grip, who predictably furrows his eyebrows and tries to take it back. Sirius gently places the book out of Remus’ reach and brings his own hand to fit into Moony’s.
