Summary
Silver is a journalist trying to expose environmental crimes. Flint is his husband, skipper, long-suffering partner in maritime law violations, and a man who says "I always know" like is both comforting and extremely irritating. Together they return to the northern waters to investigate, because apparently marriage is just saying yes to your spouse dragging you back into high-risk environmental resistance with worse weather.
They are married, chronically unsuited for domestic tranquility, and still operating under the belief that they can fix systemic corporate destruction with a combination of stubbornness, intimate knowledge of the sea, and deeply questionable prior experience. Silver writes the record. Flint drives the boat, breaks the rules, and refuses to acknowledge when he is worried. Silver also has a habit of getting injured in ways that were absolutely not part of the plan, which Flint remembers in vivid detail and Silver would prefer not be brought up again.
TL, DR: Modern AU climate grief, criminally competent maritime navigation, mutual enabling, and two men repeatedly choosing each other in conditions that would qualify as “unsafe working environment” in most jurisdictions.
