Summary
It was so cute how he needed permission for every little thing. Every touch, every kiss, too nervous to initiate anything himself, haunted by the things he yearned for, terrified of saying it out loud and asking for it, but it was easy to see how badly he wanted it. In the way his eyes were screwed shut, the flush on his face. The eagerness of his inexperienced kiss and the emaciation of his desperate touch pulls back layer after layer of that cold, antagonistic personality and puts him right on display, so that Sal can see him for what he truly is inside: Someone who wanted. Needed. Someone who yearned so badly it ached, because he was starved.

“Do you know why I’m here right now?” Travis asked, and Ashley shook her head. “I’m here right now, because I wanted to go and stare at the lake for a while, because Sal is with Larry instead of me.” He put his elbow on his knee and rested his chin in his hand, staring at the lake sternly. “It’s the third time this week he’s done this. I asked if he wanted to go to a movie tonight and he said no, that he’s going to be with Larry tonight, and what’s fucked up is I’m still not sure if I want to be mad at him for it or not.”
“Oh.” Ash said quietly.
“Yeah.” Travis replied.

Summary
An AU in progress where the Devourers of God have no access to magic of any kind, making them a much more normal cult. The ghosts are still there, though. In this AU, the DOG are a lot smaller, much more localized to Nockfell and the surrounding areas rather than the entire US. Because of this, they are not responsible for what happened to Sal's face or his mother, which were both the result of an unrelated serial killer.
This AU focuses a lot on trauma recovery and domesticity, particularly with the Phelps family in general, but especially making Travis learn how to live/laugh/love/etc.
