oh my god. genuinely one of the best pieces i’ve read in a little while. i have a real tiny group of authors that i love, love, love whatever they write, and i think you’re now in that little group of mine. though it was way shorter than what i usually read, it felt so abundant in detail and told the entirety of the story perfectly. i couldn’t tell you the amount of times i began to cry, even if just for a few minutes, throughout the telling of his struggles. from the very first time i heard about the empty nursery, i knew he had lost something invaluable. the text he received from his wife about the roads being very icy, i knew that was going to be his fall. he should have called, but instead didn’t. you have amazingly demonstrated how his regrets had consumed him, barely even living while literally trapped in that home of grief. as i saw she was trying to recoup the things that had built his life, i knew the future would be complete. this was incredibly well-written, with immense care and time put into it. it is so so beautiful. keep up your great work and thank you for such an adorable story <3

holy fucking shit. the ending oh my god oh my for i swear i’m having a breakdown i am SOBBING. when he admitted that he didn’t love her at all and only wanted the child, i felt so distraught, betrayed, just everything. oh my god. i’m like genuinely flabbergasted, utterly shocked. this easily has to be at my list of my favorite fics. everything about it was so beautiful, and it made me think. the wording was so perfect, and it was so so detailed. stop i’m sobbing i’ll be thinking of this for a long while. -
