He isn’t sure why it took Shane so long to notice. Maybe it was the dim lighting of the hotel rooms, the urgency of one more time before one of them would inevitably get dressed and leave again. Maybe he had seen and not said anything before now, knowing Ilya’s unwillingness to rip his own heart out of his chest and lay it on the table.
