Grace's webbed hands press against the glass, his curious chitters surprising the young man standing next to the viewport he was observing from. He’s newer on the team, Grace jogs his memory for his name again.
The young man holds his hand to his chest, breathing a sigh of relief, “Oh hey, Grace. Come to see your new neighbor?”
He nods, chirping his burning question, “Who is it?”
“Dunno,” Chris, right, that’s his name– “It’s another mer.”
(Or, Rocky and Adrian are helped by a merman named Grace, and in turn they save him. Now happily living in the Erid Marine Rehabilitation & Research Center, Grace is surprised when another injured merman named Simon is brought to recover in a neighboring tank. Perhaps, these two lost souls may finally have a home, together.)

Summary
Grace was a regular middle school science teacher.

That was before everything that had happened to him. Grace had gotten himself stuck in a sticky web that was becoming his new life. Willingly, or unwillingly, he was too trapped in it now to turn back.

Summary
Grace and Simon had settled into the biodome pretty quickly. Grace would teach most days and Simon would take care of the greenhouse, the eridians could have easily made the greenhouse fully automated but Simon had insisted he take care of the plants himself. Then at the end of the day they’d both get to come home and watch a movie or TV show. It was simple, but nice, and grace wouldn’t change a single thing about it. He loved Simon, and he knew that Simon loved him. It was perfect.
So naturally something had to come disrupt their routine!
Aka: Ranboo washes up on the shores of the Biodome and now Grace and Simon have to take care of this very traumatized baby

The pain tearing him apart disappeared just as suddenly as it had come, but the whiplash made him unsteady. He didn’t fight as the hands moved, one intertwining its fingers with his while the other slowly spun his chair around.
Gold met gold as their gazes connected.

TLDR:
What if the King did get Avery as his vessel by making a deal to save Derek if he cooperated, but something went wrong and, instead of the King taking control, they merge into a new entity...one that is a little more than a bit infatuated with a certain Lord. Not that Derek knows that something went wrong.
