My take on 8.01:
Lucy and Tim go home together...
“You’re ready to go home?”
Home.
His home for now, but their home soon.
He didn’t expect it, or maybe hadn’t allowed himself to imagine that she’d react this way: agreeing to move in right away, happy and excited to move in right away instead of asking for time. And Tim would have given her all the time in the world. Weeks, months; he’d have waited patiently, because he knew that eventually the moment would come.
This is an unexpected gift, and it doesn’t feel like his mind has completely caught up yet. Then again, maybe that’s not that surprising, considering how much has happened in the last twenty-four hours: car chases, stakeouts, getting shot at. -

Summary
Saw some time travel fics and after someone asked on Reddit how S1 Tim would react if he saw S7 Tim, I wanted to explore it—so expect a deep dive into Tim's psyche.
Tim finds himself in 2025 and is in for a lot of surprises that may or may not break his brain.
It won’t be overly supernatural or sci-fi-y! IWill contain S7 spoilers and tie up some loose ends left after the finale.
Tim’s head is ringing.
No, that’s an understatement.
There’s a whole orchestra going off behind his forehead, the piece they’re performing heavy on percussion and brass, and it is agony.
He forces his eyes open, squinting in the glare of the flickering overhead light. He’s flat on his back, and for a moment he can’t feel anything beyond the cold floor. Tries to move his legs, his arms, his fingers—and gets nothing.
Panic engulfs him instantly, the doctor’s voice in his ear: “We weren’t able to remove the whole bullet safely at this point. There’s a chance the fragment we left in will eventually shift close to your spine, in which case we will have to operate to prevent paralysis. But for now it’s safer if it stays put.”

Summary
After a night of fake dating in "I Know A Bank Where the Wild Thyme Blows", which turned into a one-night stand, which turned into realising there are feelings, which ended with Tim asking Lucy out on a real date... this is the following day from Tim's POV: coming to terms that he's had feelings for Lucy for a while, planning and then taking her on that date, so basically entering their secret dating era—while still training his new rookie.
(And I know this is a crappy summary.)Reading "Thyme" is recommended as there are some call-backs, but I think you can follow the plot even if you don't.

Yes, Lucy is going to find out! After a call to a physics lab Lucy finds herself in 2026, and oh, how things have changed! There's a lot for her to discover.This is a companion to "Tim(e) Accidentally", where Tim finds himself in 2025. I think this fic can be read as a stand-alone, though.
The pain is blinding.
